Dr. Svetlana Michaels, PhD, RP, is a Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO Reg # 4493)with over 40 years of experience in the field of psychology and mental health services. She previously worked with Correctional Services Canada in the Psychology and Mental Health Services Departments, where she gained experience addressing a wide range of clinical issues.
Currently, Dr. Michaels operates a private practice and works at the Revival Rehabilitation Center. She primarily provides psychotherapy and counselling services to clients in Ottawa and Kingston. Her clinical focus includes working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),psychological injuries following motor vehicle accidents (MVA), stress management, personal growth, and cultural adjustment difficulties among teenagers, adults, and couples.
Dr. Michaels also treats patients with chronic pain and insomnia. Her therapeutic interventions are based on the cognitive behavioural theoretical framework and utilize various evidence-based methods. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)for Major Depressive Disorders, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD),Interpersonal Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for PTSD, Hypnosis, Mindfulness, and specialized techniques for stress, anxiety, anger management, insomnia, and somatic tracking (neuroplastic pain).
